Look what arrived this week! You may remember these from Jen’s blog. We worked out a little dealio, and now her sadness turned into my complete and utter joy because these socks fit like she knit them for me and me alone. This photo does not do them justice; you should really look at the pics she took. They’re beautifully done, soft, and really just lovely. I don’t often use the word lovely, but it truly fits here. I’m so excited! The big challenge from here will be getting my psycho-tight knitting to match her gauge. Maybe this can be an exercise in loosening up a little?
I’ve almost completed the second stocking hat. Yes, I did wrap up the unfinished hats, needles still in and attached to their balls of yarn, for the boys to open on Christmas morning. My niece got what you see here, loose ends and all. I knit the stripes to match their names (A=1 row, B=2 rows, etc… ). The almost-finished one here will be the longest. They were really excited. And sweetly reassuring—”Don’t worry Aunt Becky, we’re patient.” Could I feel like a little bit more of a heel for not getting them done? Oh well. Now they’ll get fun presents in the mail.
We finally took our tree down yesterday. In the record-breaking 74 degree heat. We had all the windows open, the goose down out on the line… it was ridiculous. BF was in shorts all day. But, I have my living room back!!! Holy crap, it’s so wonderful. The nice weather invoked this spring cleaning frenzy in me. So, we went to the farmers’ market, vacuumed out the cars and washed the windows, took the dog on a super long walk, I vacuumed and dusted the house and did some general organizing. It was my first weekend home since the first weekend in December and damn, it felt good.
Damn, I’m getting old.
Yay! I’m so glad you like them! 🙂
Hi! Help!
No matter where I go for the stocking cap pattern, I cannot find YARDAGE. The pattern, yes. The yardage, no.
Can you help me out with approx. yardage for the stocking caps you knot for your niece? I will be knitting mine for a tall, tall friend in his favorite football team colors, so I’ll be aiming for …oh, a 3 or 4 foot long tail. Help?
